"Bed and Bike provided us with a very well organised few days cycling around Strangford Lough; beautiful even on rather cloudy damp days. Hugo organised everything perfectly and was delightful company. Thank you"

"Thank you organising our cycling holiday. We really enjoyed it and found it was an excellent way to explore more of Northern Ireland. We managed to get a table at the Ginger Bistro on our last night in Belfast which was an excellent recommendation as the food was superb. Thank you for the wine you gave us and also for letting the staff know at Jurys that it was our anniversary as they also gave us a bottle of wine. Our favourite day of cycling was probably Day 2 cycling from KillyLeagh to Strangford which was also the day we found most challenging in terms of hills. We particularly enjoyed staying at the Dufferin Inn but all the accommodation was very good. The food was excellent throughout but our favourite meal was at the Lobster Pot in Strangford.Thank you for all your support, transferring our luggage, morning briefings etc.We will have no hesitation in recommending Bed and Bike Northern Ireland to any of our friends who are considering cycling in the area."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our three day cycling holiday with Bed and Bike Northern Ireland. Our booking was made a couple of months in advance and so we had a good plan of what to expect before we headed off. We left our car with Hugo in Comber, he then drove us to Belfast where we had an afternoon to explore the city. The next morning Hugo met us and cycled with us out of Belfast onto the Comber Greenway. He left us there and we cycled on, down the western side of Strangford Lough. This was the longest section of our trip, but broken up by nice stops, Daft Eddies for coffee and then we headed on down to Killyleagh for a really delicious lunch. The cycling was easy enough to start with, mostly flat - we passed through some pretty towns and the scenery was lovely, looking out to Stangford Lough, or cycling through farmland that would not have been out of place in France.

From Killyleagh onto Strangford the cycling got harder, for a newbie like me, with a lot of up and down hills, but would be super for someone who was more experienced. I found as the days went by the hills became less daunting, and I became better at choosing what gear and how to approach them. At the end of this section we crossed on the ferry from Strangford to Portaferry which was a fun experience and a great way to arrive at the Portaferry Hotel, our home for two nights.

Hugo had offered to meet us on day two but we decided to do our own thing, have a lazy morning and cycle around locally. I really enjoyed this day as the freedom allowed us to stop where we wanted, have a wander around and go for a swim at one of the many local beaches. On our final day Hugo was kind enough to come and collect us and the bikes and drive us about half-way up the Ards Peninsula so our cycle back to Comber was shorter, but still very enjoyable. The views along the east side of the Peninsula out to the sea from Ballyhalbert to Ballywalter were really very lovely.

I wasn’t expecting the beauty of the countryside as we cycled through it, especially on the small country roads that were mapped out on this part of the Route 99 Cycleway. I learnt that Northern Ireland produces a lot of potatoes as we saw many fields of them as we cycled by! We were really lucky with the weather, and found everyone that we met to be really friendly and welcoming throughout our whole trip.

Hugo was always available and full of information and advice for us. He organised the bikes, the accommodation and our meals, as well as transferring our luggage from place to place, and it was that local knowledge and experience that really made the difference.

I would thoroughly recommend Bed and Bike, and we will do our best to return in the not too distant future."

"Just want to say thank you for the wonderful cycling trip you organised for us. The itinerary was full of interesting things to see and was very achievable. You took great care that we were on safe routes with clear instructions as to things to do and see. The accommodation and restaurant choices were great too. We were blessed with wonderful weather as well, but felt we’d have coped even in the rain. Thank you also for all the advice about things to do in our couple of days after we finished cycling. Really valuable. Again thank you for facilitating a wonderful way to see your beautiful country. We would highly recommend this trip to others looking for a really fun way of seeing Northern Ireland, while feeling ably supported by someone like you, Hugo."

"Hugo is amazing! Our biking experience in Ireland was indeed a wonderful experience. From the moment we landed to the moment Hugo dropped us off at the airport, Hugo supported us, answered any questions we had, gave us sightseeing ideas in Belfast and made sure we had everything we needed. He rode with us several miles the first day, just to make sure we were well suited to our bikes. He noticed that my leg was affecting my riding, so unbeknown to us, he went home and fine tuned a different bike for me. We were into our first day about 15 miles and Hugo drove all that way to trade out my bike. As I said, Hugo is amazing. The scenery was breath taking, the routes were well planned and easy to navigate, the accommodations were very comfortable after a day of biking, and the food - oh what can I say - the food was excellent.

I give Hugo and Bed an Bike Northern Ireland - two thumbs way up!!"

"We did a two day guided tour round Strangford with B&B NI. Hugo’s knowledge of the locality was fantastic. I’m Northern Irish born and bred, but some of the great places we visited on our tour were completely new to me. An artisanal distillery and a secluded national trust village were two of the gems we stopped at en route. Hugo was quick to assess our cycling ability and make sure the pace was suitable throughout .ie a very leisurely pace! Hugo is one of those people who gets on well with everyone and we could not have enjoyed his company more. I’d absolutely recommend B&B NI to anyone!"

David, visiting from London

“Hugo shows great consideration when out with a group of mixed ability cyclists. His local knowledge and experience of County Down’s roads is second to none; all whilst having a good dose of Irish ‘craic’.

Couldn’t recommend cycling with Hugo more highly: good technical knowledge and very helpful!

Great lunch stops too...”

"Had the most wonderful day yesterday cycling the beautiful County Down countryside, organised by Hugo from Bed & Bike Northern Ireland. 5* experience all round - from the planning of our tour, the route we took, to the restaurant we ate in!

Part of the package included a tour of the Echlinville Distillery which I’d really recommend visiting - best bit was sampling the local gins obviously 1f601.png"

"This trip has been so special as we have been so well looked after. Hugo planned our cycle route, accommodation, places to eat with absolute perfection.

He has been on hand daily to tend to all our requirements and appears to pop up just before we might made an incorrect decision! Thank you it's been a blast and for sure we highly recommend your company."

"Great host. Lovely trip into the heart of Co. Down. I never knew there was so much to hear about in Comber, but that is the difference a brilliant tour guide makes. I could have walked, cycled and listened for hours more! Many thanks, Hugo"
